Portable Hardness Testing

The completely new generation of portable Wolpert Hardness Leeb type (WHL) Series offer the most affordable but accurate testing solution for on site testing in workshops and in field operation for quality assurance.

The Leeb (also known as an Equotip) test is a modern electronic version of the Scleroscope. It uses a carbide ball hammer that is spring rather than gravity powered. An electronic sensor measures the velocity of the hammer as it travels toward and away from the surface of the sample. The Leeb value is the hammer's rebound velocity divided by the impact velocity times 1000. The result is Leeb hardness from 0 to 1000 that can be related to other hardness scales such as Rockwell and Vickers.

Any metal product with a minimum solid mass of 2 kg or more can be tested in any hardness scale. Test results appear immediately on back-lit display. To maximise friendly use of the instruments on site, the WHL Series are featured with standard batteries and internal memory with RS-232 output. Seven different impact devices and various support rings allow for testing on a wide variety of part geometries.

M-200B/M-250B Rebound Portable Hardness Tester

The M-200B and M-250B Rebound Portable Hardness Testers operate on the Leeb principle of measuring both the impact velocity of a spring-loaded impact ball prior to contacting the test surface and the rebound velocity after contact with the test surface. The small size and easy-to-use, one-hand operation makes the M-200B and M-250B testers ideal for use on internal surfaces of casting or fabricated assemblies, or on large, cumbersome samples.

DynaTestor™ M495 Vickers Portable Hardness Tester

This highly-accurate UCI Testor by Wilson® Hardness is the latest development in portable hardness testing, suitable for thin and/or very large structures made of metals, plastics, and ceramics. The DynaTestor M495 provides a direct reading in Vickers HV, and conversion to HRC, HRB, HB and UTS. It performs with a high reproducibility within ±1% and works according to the accepted Vickers UCI principle.

The electronic evaluation of the measurement provides immediate hardness values in HV, HB or HRC, and is guaranteed to the sample rate of 500 samples per second. The DynaTestor is ideal for both mobile use, as well as for hardness testing in production and vendor inspection. The DynaTestor M495 can be adjusted to a wide range of materials and can store up to 20 calibrations, complete with material identification.

The portable Vickers tester features a large memory, statistics and data output. Windows® PC software for testing, data processing, and documentation.
