UK Calibrations Limited is a British company, based in the Midlands, the area that was the centre of industry during the 19th century. The region was dubbed the 'Workshop of the World', much of Britain's heavy engineering took place here, largely due to solid understanding of metal working and metallurgy. It is no coincidence that UK Calibrations has made its home here.
The company was formed by a group of experienced hardness testing engineers, and is a direct descendant of the Vickers Armstrong company, which developed the Vickers hardness test in 1924. Today the company provides UKAS accredited calibration services not only on Vickers hardness machines, but a wide range of hardness testing equipment and backs that up with a nationwide sales, maintenance and breakdown service.
From August 2013, UK Calibrations became part of the Zwick Roell Group A world leader in materials and component testing, this move secured the future of the company and allowed access to the full range of Zwick Roell hardness testing machines and the expertise of other members of the group.
